OK SO IT WAS ONLY ENGLAND INTO WALES BUT IT STILL COUNTS RIGHT?

Sunny June saw Nick our Creative Director, slip into his lycra jersey and cycle to Wales - raising money for charity Sense UK. Beginning in Telford, Shropshire and ending in Barmouth, Wales, the route totalled approximately 90 miles and saw him tackle Dinas Mawddwy - one of the UK’s top ten toughest road hill climbs.

Before the trip Nick said “My brother did it last year on his own and it rained every mile until he got there. So when he told me he was doing it again, I thought he could do with some company.”

Why Sense UK? Well we wondered that too and Nick said “Sense UK support children and adults who are deafblind. As a designer I rely so much on my senses and I cannot think of a worse way to live life without being able to see NOR hear. I have 3 small boys and they marvel at the world around them. Amazed by it's curiosities, colours and beauty. No child should have to live in a world of darkness & silence and not have the chance to experience what every one of us takes for granted. The money I raise may not be able to restore sight, but with new sensory equipment and staff that can be made available to help people, what I do raise, will go some way to help those who are deafblind or sensory impaired to have a better day than yesterday.

And how did the training and actual ride go?

"Training was probably the hardest part. That needed commitment and perseverance. At one point I was fed up with sticking to my schedule and almost decided to quit completely. Then a friend donated £50 so there was now way I was going give up now and let down the charity and sponsors.” Nick added. To give him added incentive, we designed a bespoke cycling jersey adorned with our branding. He certainly stood out as he whizzed down the road.

Nick finishes his 90 mile charity cycle ride for Sense UK

By the end of the day, Nick raised £250.00 for Sense UK and celebrated with his brother and fellow riders by having a few beers and resting his weary head (and legs) in the coastal town of Barmouth, Wales before travelling back home the next day to his 3 boys for Fathers Day. Would he do it again? He is already planning his next charity ride for 2016.
