STUDIO MANAGER & DESIGNER
HELEN COMBINES A DESIGN BACKGROUND WITH UBER ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS.
When she isn’t designing, Helen keeps a steady ship at Team DC by keeping on top of day to day office duties. Although not seen very often by our clients, her organisational skills are the reason our work is delivered on time, on budget and that’s what keeps everyone happy. Her talents don’t just stop at being super efficient either, she’s a crafty sort – in a hands on kind of way – and makes hand-stamped personalised jewellery and keepsakes. Just stay out of her way when she has a hammer in her hand!
WHAT’S YOUR STORY?
I’ve always been an arty and creative person. Making and designing things comes as standard with me. I’m equally as happy to have a pair of scissors in my hand as I am a computer mouse. Art College gave me the focus and direction to channel my creativity and even after all these years I still have that desire to create something unique. It’s important for me to keep up with the latest design trends. I’m always surrounded in creative projects, even when I’m not designing for ‘work’ (if that’s what you want to call what I do, I feel like I just spend time doing what I love). It doesn’t matter what I’m doing; upcycling furniture, crafts with the kids, designing & making my own hand stamped sterling silver jewellery or of course, creating brand stories for our clients – I love it all.
WHAT EXCITES YOU IN THIS INDUSTRY?
The rate at which the industry evolves is just mind blowing. The principles mostly stay the same yet the changes in technology let our clients work with us on different levels in different media – even for the smallest budgets. As a business you can’t be scared to adapt, to try new techniques and experiment – who know’s what success and engagement it might bring?
WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA?
Social media is both a blessing and the devil in disguise! I’ll put my hands up and say that I’m one of the masses that will sit there with a group of friends, on our phones. It’s so easy to keep in touch now and share experiences – but it’s so easy to forget to live in the ‘now’. We all need to learn to step back sometimes love life and enjoy those around us. Yet the plus side to social media for businesses and brands is that finding your target audience has never been easier – and trackable too. With analytics offered by most social networks, measuring your marketing is quick and great tool to gauge the success of your campaigns.
